Goethe-Zentrum, a leading institute for Germanic studies in Hyderabad, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary on June 29. The institute has long enjoyed a prestigious position within the city's academic circles, and is particularly helpful for German students in India.
After having settled into a new office at Banjara Hills, the institute proceeded to celebrate its one-year anniversary by relaunching the environmental program called "Goethe Goes Green".
As part of this program, the institute aims to contribute towards the sphere of environmental protection, preservation and conservation.
It must be noted here that the institute has found remarkable ways of implementing this eco-friendly approach. For starters, most of the furniture at the new office has been built from recycled materials from the old office.
According to the Goethe Zentrum officials, the authorities at the institute have always tried to maintain a green environment around the students. Now, there are terrace gardens on the office terrace, and waste papers and superfluous banners are recycled.
Moreover, in order to facilitate the conservation of electrical energy, the office uses LED lights, and has plans of investing in solar cells in the recent future, so as to effectively regulate the electricity consumption in the office.
In order to invite public participation for their efforts, the folks at Goethe-Zentrum have launched a "One Year Go Banjara!" workshop, whereby children and adults can participate in activities like making flowerpots, and containers out of used bottles. Goethe-Zentrum makes it all look like fun.
