Endowments minister C Ramachandraiah on Monday wrote a letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, regarding the recently cancelled mine allotments.

The minister has asked the CM to hand over to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) the mines previously allotted to Obulapuram and Brahamni Steels.

The state had recently cancelled the allotment of mines to the two companies as they failed to fulfill the contract terms.

The Chief Minister had said that Bayyaram mines would be allotted to VSP, triggering protests from various quarters.

Ramachandraiah's letter to the CM on allotment of mines is significant in the wake of his recent comments that Chiranjeevi should be made the Chief Minister. He later backtracked, but his dissenting views in the party are well-known, as he was in the company of Kiran Kumar Reddy's detractors. (INN)
