Endowments minister C Ramchandraiah trigged another controversy within the Congress, by proposing the candidature of Union Tourism minister K Chiranjeevi for the Chief Minister's post.
Addressing a meeting at Bhimli beach, Ramchandraiah said that while Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana could lead the party, Chiranjeevi was the "best candidate" for the Chief Minister's post.
Both Botsa and Chiranjeevi were present on the stage when he made these remarks, and they managed to greet his proposal with a smile.
Ramchandraiah said that the Congress could give Chiranjeevi a larger responsibility during the next elections.
Chiranjeevi had earlier laid the foundation stone for the Visakha-Bhimli beach corridor project, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 45.80 crore. (INN)
