The Telugu Desam Party seems determined in continuing its agenda of raising sand, as is evident from the fact that the party has finally decided to take a clear stand on the Bayyaram mines issue, after
being chided by the TRS for not taking a decisive stand earlier.
Apart from
demanding the dismissal of Cabinet ministers who are (allegedly) involved in various scams, as well as
clamouring for the CM's resignation, it is now convening a meeting to discuss the allocation of the Bayyaram mines in the Khammam district to the Vishakapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) - an already controversial move made by the CM last month.
The TDP also intends to demand the cancellation of the official GO (Government's Orders) which effectively empowers VSP to exploit the mineral resources of the region.
TDP leader Erraballi Dayakar Rao said, "We demand the government to cancel the GO which allows VSP to make use of the raw material from Bayyaram mines".
"The Government should also convene an all-party meeting to discuss the usage model of the raw materials of Telangana region", he said.
Erraballi Dayakar Rao also said that the TDP will continue to protest against the Government until the GO is withdrawn. He went on to claim that it was solely due to the TDP's interference that the Bayyaram mines alloted to the family members of YSR, were withdrawn.
"We will meet the Governor E S L Narasimhan on May 17 seeking the cancellation of the GO which allows the VSP to exploit the Bayyaram mines," he said. (INN)
