Telugu Desam Party leaders on Saturday demanded that the state government withdraw its proposal to allot the Bayyaram mines to Visakha Steel Plant.
Talking to reporters after submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on the issue, Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageswara Rao said that his party would not permit the shifting of iron ore from Bayyaram under any circumstances.
He also claimed that the Chief Minister has agreed to set up a steel plant at Bayyaram.
Another TDP leader Thummala Nageswara Rao said that the Bayyaram mines belong to the Telangana region, and that they cannot be shifted to any other region in the state.
The TDP leaders also slammed Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao for remaining silent when former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had alloted the Bayyaram mines to his son-in-law Anil Kumar.
They claimed that the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu had raised the issue long back while the TRS leader had maintained a questionable silence on the issue. (INN)
