GHMC Voters' Deletion: BJP Complains To Governor
The Party brought to his notice the allegations of deletion of voters' names from the electoral rolls, and the unscientific delimitation of the GHMC wards.
A delegation of Telangana BJP leaders, led by BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman, today called on Governor E S L Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan and brought to his notice the allegations of deletion of voters' names from the electoral rolls for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, and the unscientific delimitation of the GHMC wards.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Lakshman said that they had also complained to the Governor about the increasing unwarranted interference by the ruling party in the process of the GHMC elections, and had requested him to ensure transparency in the conduct of elections to the GHMC.
He also alleged that the State government was planning to conduct the GHMC elections during the Sankranthi festival holidays with an ulterior motive. How could elections be held during holidays, he asked.
"We have complained to the Governor about the faulty policy used by the TRS government for the delimitation of the wards. The Governor has responded positively to our complaints," Lakshman said. He siad that the wards had been divided in a way that would favour the TRS and MIM.
Khairatabad BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, Greater Hyderabad BJP Party president B Venkat Reddy, Malla Reddy and Nagurao Namaji were among the delegation members.
The BJP delegation also met new GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and lodged complaints over the delimitation of wards and deletions of names of voters from the voters' lists.
