The Telangana BJP election management committee today held a meeting to finalize the name of its candidate for the Warangal by-election.
The meeting was held at the residence of Union minister and senior party leader Bandaru Dattatreya.
State Party president G Kishan Reddy, BJP floor leader in the Telangana Assembly K Lakshman, N Indrasena Reddy, MLC Ramachandra Rao, party organizational secretary M Srinivas, senior leader Chinta Samba Murthy, Premender, former MLA Lakshminarayana and others attended the meeting.
The Party, which has the support of the TDP, is likely to announce the name of the candidate on Saturday, reliable sources said.
In other news, K Lakshman faulted the TRS government for slashing the number of wards in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Speaking to mediapersons, Lakshman said that the division of the GHMC wards was not done scientifically.
As against its earlier announcement that GHMC municipal wards would be increased to 250, the TRS government had in fact reduced the number of wards to 150, which was highly objectionable, he stated.
