The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Wednesday sanctioned Rs. 1.23 crore for the restoration works on the roads from Mehdipatnam to Mallepally Crossroads; Guddimalkapur to Prince Bagh (via Choti Masjid); and from Purana Pul to Hussaini Alam.
The decision was taken at the Standing Committee Meeting held at the GHMC head office.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board had dug up these roads to lay new drainage and drinking water pipelines, under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
The Standing Committee decided to take up restoration on the roads, despite the fact that that the HMWSSB was responsible to repair the road, due to the inconvenience faced by the general public.
The committee also sanctioned Rs. 22 lakh to lay a CC road in the Jamia Nizamia University campus. Rs. 1.51 crore has been sanctioned for the widening of roads from Sant Nirankari Bhavan at Lakdikapul crossroads.
The committee also gave the nod to release Rs. 1,02,67,275 as compensation to owners whose properties were acquired for road widening, under Supreme Court directions.
It gave the nod to release Rs. 1.32 crore as compensation to owners of properties from SR Nagar to Erragadda flyover. Similarly, Rs. 99 lakh has been allotted for compensating owners of properties from Chatrinaka to Chandrayangutta.
Also, GHMC staff were instructed to take particular care in keeping the surroundings of masjids clean, and to repair potholes and streetlights in view of Ramzan.
GHMC Commissioner Sameer Sharma was conspicuous by his absence.
