GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has announced that the GHMC will be launching a new scheme of giving out a subsidized hot meal at Rs. 5 per plate in 3 days time in at least one centre in each zone.
The Commissioner has visited Nampally Sarai, Koti and Chintal Basthi in the Khairtabad division for the selection of a suitable site for the aforementioned food scheme.
The Commissioner has announced that the GHMC has allocated Rs. 11 crores from the budget for the year 2014-15 for this scheme.
"In the 1st phase, 50 centres will be established with an aim to feed 300 people in each centre, thereby totaling upto a number of 15,000 people in a day from 1st April, 2014," he said.
During the implementation of the pilot project of the scheme, the loose ends of the scheme will be tightened, and by the time of its formal launching i.e., by the 1st of April, 2014, the scheme will be in place, the Commissioner added. (INN)
