GHMC Mayor Holds Emergency Meeting On Stray Dog Menace
GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi today held an emergency meeting on the stray dog menace in the wake of a death of a four-year-old in an attack in Amberpet.
GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi today held an emergency meeting on the stray dog menace in the corporation limits in the wake of a death of a four-year-old boy in an attack by stray dogs in the Amberpet area of the city.
Speaking to media persons later, Vijayalaxmi said that the corporation was taking steps to control the menace of the stray dogs in its limits.
She said that there were around 5.5 lakh stray dogs in the corporation limits, and that four vehicles were being run on a daily basis to sterilise them. She said that the corporation had sterilised four lakh stray dogs so far.
Commenting on the tragic death incident of the four-year-old boy in the stray dog attack, she termed it as sad and said that she had ordered an inquiry into it.
She also promised that the corporation would take steps for the prevention of such incidents in future, and that it would now focus on the areas which had high numbers of stray dogs.
The Zonal Commissioners of the city and veterinary wing officials took part in the emergency meeting.
