Telangana Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao today criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being on a spree of foreign tours and not visiting Hyderabad even once after the NDA government had formed at the Centre, and for not giving any funds to Telangana.
Inviting some BJP leaders and activists, including Bangaru Prakash and Sama Sunder Reddy, into the TRS fold at the Party office on Thursday, the minister said that Hyderabadis believed more in Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who was trying to transform the city into a global destination with world-class infrastructure and facilities.
"The voters will not prefer the BJP as Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Party Telangana president Kishan Reddy have been least bothered about developing the city. They must press the Centre to give a Rs 1,00,000-crore package to the State as it gave Bihar, and bring Modi to Hyderabad," he said.
KTR also ridiculed the Prime Minister for giving a broom-stick to everyone to "clean their houses" and opening bank accounts for the poor to save their own money.
Expressing displeasure at the BJP and the Telugu Desam Party for politicking for the GHMC polls in the name of religion and region respectively, he flayed their speeches at the Nizam College grounds public meeting targeting the ruling Party and Chief Minister KCR.
"The people will not trust the Congress in the civic polls as it did nothing for the past six decades. And why should Hyderabad's people vote for the TDP-BJP combine?" he asked.
The IT minister exuded confidence that the TRS would emerge victorious in the GHMC polls by winning a minimum of 100 seats and get the Mayor's post. The Opposition Parties were getting envious of the TRS as its leaders were away from infighting, but despite the Opposition criticism, the government would do its best for Hyderabad, he said.
