"Even I am a settler in Hyderabad as I came from Siddipet. No local is unhappy when we are speaking about settlers," Telangana IT and Panchayat Raj minister K T Rama Rao said.
Addressing a "Meet-the-Press" program organized by the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) and Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) jointly at the Basheerbagh Press Club on Tuesday, KTR said Seemandhras, Sindhis, Parsis, Jains and so on were living in Hyderabad as locals, and the TRS government was not showing any discrimination towards any settler in giving ration cards, pensions, double bedroom houses etc. He also said that there would be no reservations for locals in IT sector jobs.
Though some people spread rumours before the 2014 elections that the TRS would not allow the settlers to live in Hyderabad, he said that the TRS government proved them wrong as there were no untoward incidents in the last 19 months in Hyderabad.
He said that the TRS government would develop Hyderabad in partnership with all the people living in the city.
Stating that the bifurcation had been good for both succesor States, KTR said that Andhra Pradesh was developing only after the division of the united State, constructing a new capital at Amaravathi, an international airport at Gannavaram and an AIIMS. He said that Telangana was also developing on a fast track only after the division of the united State.
He assured people that the TRS government would change Hyderabad into a clean, green, smart, safe and liveable city. The TRS government would supply both surplus power and surplus drinking water to Hyderabad within a few years, he said. Two reservoirs wold be constructed around the city with 30 TMCFT storage capacity, he informed.
KTR also said that the TRS government would construct 11 skyways, 54 junctions, four 400 KV transforms, 36 model markets, 36 model grave yards and playgrounds, and appealed to Hyderabad's voters to cast their votes for the TRS to do all these things.
"KCR has the guts to realize what he says. We are not assuring these things for the sake of elections. We will do these things within 10 years. We will show within five years, development that has not happened in the last 50 years," he vowed.
