Following his arrest in
a sexual harassment case on January 2, the SaveTemples Organization, who had instituted Srinivas as a brand ambassador, fired him with immediate effect.
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation president Velagapudi Prakash Rao issued a statement saying that the foundation, which was started in 2006 with an aim to protect Hindu dharma with global support, was shocked at the incident which had occurred at its Indian office as it completely violated the ethos of the dharma it strived to protect.
He said that the foundation that ran the SaveTemples Organization would not tolerate any misuse of power or violation of ethical values, and that the organisation's board of directors had taken a unianimous resolution to suspend Srinivas with immediate effect over the charges.
For the uninitiated, the Panjagutta police had arrested Srinivas on Tuesday following a complaint by a woman employee of the SaveTemples Organization alleging sexual harassment by the singer, and produced him in the Nampally sessions court. He was shifted to the Chanchalguda jail after the court directed that he be kept in judicial remand up to January 12.
