ACB Arrests Retired Judge In Gali's Bail Case
Retired judge Chalapathi Rao is accused of having acted as a middleman in Pattabhi Rama Rao granting bail to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.

Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths, on Saturday, took into custody retired judge Chalapathi Rao, who is accused of having acted as a middleman in a court granting bail to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. Gali was granted bail by suspended first additional CBI judge Pattabhi Rama Rao, in exchange for bribes.
The ACB sleuths, in an early morning swoop, raided Chalapathi Rao's house at Ashok Nagar, and took him into custody.
The officials also conducted raids at Chalapathi Rao's residence at Chilkuluripeta in Guntur district, and his brother Balaji Rao's residence as well.
Earlier, the ACB conducted raids at Pattabhi Rama Rao's house at Judges' Colony and seized vital documents in connection with the case.
It may be mentioned here that the ACB has already booked cases against 8 persons in connection with the grant of bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Retired Judge Chalapathi Rao and rowdy sheeter Yadagiri Rao are said to have acted as the middlemen in the deal.
The ACB registered cases against Judge Pattabhi Rama Rao's son Ravi Chandra, retired judge Chalapathi Rao, Gali Janardhana Reddy's brother Somasekhara Reddy, Suresh Babu, 2 MLAs from Karnataka, rowdy sheeter Yadgiri of Hyderabad, Dasarathrami Reddy, and a junior advocate. They are all accused of indulging in corruption, cheating and criminal conspiracy under various sections of Indian Penal Code 120(B) 420, 417, and section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
