A day after the Andhra Pradesh High Court transferred the case from the Central Bureau Of Investigation, the Anti Corruption Bureau, on Saturday, booked cases against suspended First Additional CBI Judge Pattabhi Ramarao, who was accused in granting bail to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy in return for a bribe. Cases were also booked against 6 others, including 2 legislators from Karnataka.
The ACB registered cases against Pattabhirama Rao's son Ravi Chandra, retired judge Chalapathi Rao, Gali Janardhana Reddy's brother Somasekhara Reddy, Suresh Babu, 2 MLAs from Karnataka, rowdy-sheeter Yadagiri of Hyderabad, Dasarathrami Reddy, and a junior advocate.
They were booked for indulging in corruption, cheating and criminal conspiracy under various sections of the Indian Penal Code 120 (B) - 420, 417 - and sections 13(2) of the Prevention Of Corruption Act.
The ACB said that the Central Investigation Unit would launch probes against all the accused.
High Court chief justice Madan B Lokur had
suspended Pattabhirama Rao for allegedly receiving a bribe of over Rs. 5 crore to
grant bail to Gali Janardhana Reddy. However, no arrest has been made in the case so far. (INN)
