Karnataka MLA Gali Somasekhar Reddy, who is also a brother of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, on Friday, surrendered before Anti-Corruption Bureau officials, in connection with the cash-for-bail scam involving Janardhan Reddy.
According to ACB, Gali Somasekhar Reddy, who is among the 8 accused in the cash-for-bail scam, has been evading police arrest.
The ACB had issued summons to both Somasekhar Reddy and Kampli MLA T H Suresh Babu, in the third week of July, asking them to appear before the investigating officer. However, instead of appearing before the ACB, the MLAs moved anticipatory bail petitions before the ACB court.
Meanwhile, the ACB court, on Friday, adjourned its decision on granting anticipatory bail to Somasekhara Reddy, to 9 August.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the ACB court posted the petition to 9 August.
Earlier, Kampli MLA Suresh Babu surrendered before the ACB officials.
It may be recalled that after Suresh Babu's surrender, Somasekhar Reddy became suspicious that the ACB was tracking his every movement, and went underground. ACB sources revealed that the MLA, to avoid being tracked, had even stopped using a cellphone, and also abandoned his gunmen. (INN)
