The Anti Corruption Bureau Court, on Tuesday, remanded suspended Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) judge Justice Pattabhi Rama Rao, the accused in the cash-for-bail case of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, to judicial custody for 14 days.
The court gave this direction when ACB sleuths produced him in court after his arrest. Following the court's directions, the officials shifted Pattabhi Rama Rao to Cherlapally Jail, under tight security.
Earlier, ACB officials had arrested Pattabhi Rama Rao at Judges Colony, and shifted him to Osmania General Hospital for medical tests. After the medical examination, ACB director general B Prasad Rao produced Ramarao before the ACB court.
Prasad Rao said that Pattabhi Rama Rao was one of the key persons in the cash-for-bail case.
It may be mentioned here that justice Pattabhi Rama Rao had allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs. 6 crore to grant bail to mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy, in the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation.
The ACB has already arrested retired judge P V Chalapathi Rao and Pattabhi Rama Rao's son T Ravi Chandra in the case, and seized cash of Rs. 1.6 crore from their possession. (INN)
