Andhra Pradesh Police Recruitment Board chairman M Malakondaiah said that protestors were unaware of the free zone notifications.
Andhra Pradesh Police Recruitment Board chairman M Malakondaiah on Tuesday attributed the flare up of opposition to the sub-inspector recruitments and free zone issues to the lack of proper awareness of aspirants on the notification issued in 2008.
Talking to a private news channel on Tuesday, Malakondaiah stated that the students were resorting to agitation and dharnas without going through the notification properly.
Stating that the notification for the recruitment of 1,293 sub-inspector posts in the state was issued on December 30th, 2008, the APPRB chairman said that under the VIth zone, 402 civil and 45 Armed Reserve SIs posts were announced for Rangareddy, Cyberabad, Nalgonda, Medak, Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar districts.
Malakondaiah said that the recruitment for Hyderabad zone would be conducted after the government made its stand clear on free zone. The APPRB chairman emphasized that there was no ulterior motive behind the test.
"Another notification would be issued for recruitment of police staff in Hyderabad after government takes a decision on free zone issue", Malakondaiah stated.
Malakondaiah said that the notification issued on December 30th, 2008, clearly mentioned that there were vacancies for sub-inspector posts in Hyderabad zone. The recruitments for other zones could be conducted as per schedule as no posts were announced in Hyderabad zone, he pointed out.
The APPRB chairman added that the Police Recruitment Board was ready to hold talks with the leaders of Students Joint Action Committee in this regard and would clear their doubts.
Malakondaiah said that the examination would be conducted for all other zones as per schedule except for Hyderabad in VIth zone, which included Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Nizamabad and Rangareddy district.
For 1293 SI posts, 18,300 candidates had been selected for the written test. From the VIth zone, 4900 candidates were attending the test, the APPRB chairman stated.
Malakondaiah pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had earlier given verdict that Hyderabad was to be included in the VIth zone in 2001.
But, the Supreme Court ordered the government to retain Hyderabad as free zone in 2009. As the notification was issued in 2008, there was no controversy, and the aspirants, without knowing the judgement, were resorting to agitations and politicizing the issue, Malakondaiah pointed out.
