Former union minister Kishore Chandra Deo has resigned from the Congress, giving a shocker in Andhra Pradesh to the Grand Old Party.

He said that the bifurcation had led the Congress to suffer irreparable damage in the state, and also that there was no importance being given to him in the party as a senior.

Deo alleged that the nation was facing a crisis due to the BJP government at the Centre destabilising the institutions, and refused to join any political party that would have a truck with it. He said that he would reveal the party he would be joining, soon. Given his close relationship with the TDP's Ashok Gajapathi Raju, he likely to join the ruling party in the AP, it is being said.

Deo contested unsuccessfully for the Araku Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 general elections - the Congress had gotten wiped out in Andhra Pradesh in those elections.
