The state government on Saturday announced that it would provide interest-free loans to tenant farmers with LEC cards, during the Rabi season.
In a reply to a question raised by MLAs D Venkata Bala Vardhana Rao and others during Question Hour in the state Legislative Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said that there are 5,85,954 tenant farmers across the state. So far, the government has issued cards to 5,76,147 farmers, and about 1.30 lakh LEC holders have been sanctioned loans worth Rs. 270.20 crore.
Rajanarasimha assured the House that the all the remaining LEC holders would be sponsored for crop loans during the Rabi season.
The Pavala Vaddi scheme is also available on par with other farmers, he said.
He also said that crop insurance and input subsidy were also being paid to LEC card-holders during natural calamities. (INN)
