Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today urged Congress workers and leaders not to take the party posts lightly, and said that the party positions were a source of recognition and respect, and instrumental in the political growth of leaders.
A large-scale TPCC working group meeting was held at Gandhi Bhavan, in which the CM participated. Addressing the gathering, Reddy recalled that during his tenure as the TPCC president, he had enrolled 45 lakh active members into the party, and that now many leaders from the Youth Congress, NSUI and district units had been given positions in the current Congress government.
Reddy also said that the numbers of Assembly and Lok Sabha seats in Telangana were likely to increase in the coming days, and that hard-working leaders would be rewarded with party tickets for the new seats.
He said that the Congress would remain in power in the State for the next ten years, and added that the 2029 Assembly elections would serve as a platform for the emergence of new leadership within the party.
Reddy encouraged party workers to therefore be active on the ground, visit villages, and work in close coordination with the people. He urged them to promote the government's welfare schemes widely, with the goal of securing a second consecutive term for the Congress in Telangana.
The CM also praised AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge for setting a rare example by serving as a public representative for an extended period, and urged party members to take inspiration from him in their political journeys.
The Chief Minister also directed district in-charge ministers to take party matters seriously. He instructed them to uphold party discipline and ensure that vacant party posts were filled without delay.
He also suggested that all social groups be adequately represented in party committees.
Reddy also advised the leadership to frame a national narrative around the upcoming local body elections, and also reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in these elections.
The CM also called on the party cadres to focus on the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election (necessitated by the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath on June 5) and ensure a victory by preparing effectively for the contest.
Reddy said that Telangana had become a model for other States, and that the Congress-led government had compelled the Centre to initiate a caste census - an achievement he described as a major success. He also spoke about the State's progress in education, employment and job creation.
