In a gruesome accident on the Kondapur-Tirupati bypass, five persons returning to the city from Tirupati in a car were killed when the vehicle overturned on the highway near Wanaparthy on Saturday morning.
As per reports, six persons, all hailing from the Mahbubnagar district, were returning to Hyderabad in a Scorpio SUV after a pilgrimage to Tirumala Tirupati.
The accident occurred when the speeding SUV tried to avoid a motor-cyclist approaching from opposite direction near a bend along the road, and lost control. The vehicle was tossed up in the air and made three somersaults, killing four persons immediately.
The survivors, who were critically injured, were rushed to a hospital nearby, where one of them succumbed to his injuries.
Those who lost their lives were identified as Janardhan, Narayana, Venkatesh, Pavan Kumar and Shekhar.
