First-Time MLAs Get To Speak

Several first-time legislators raise issues pertaining to their constituencies during the Zero Hour.

Several first-time MLAs on Sunday got an opportunity to speak about the problems being faced by the people in their respective constituencies.

As many as 22 members, a majority of them being first-time legislators, raised the issues pertaining to their constituencies, during the Zero Hour, which lasted for about 40 minutes.

MIM MLA Virasat Rasool Khan complained of shortage of medicines, doctors, para-medical staff and other facilities in the government hospitals located in his Nampally constituency.

Listing out the hospitals in the Assembly segment that he represents, he said that corruption is rampant in those hospitals, and that the general public faces several difficulties due to the government's negligence.

Lok Satta's Jayaprakash Narayan asked the state government to prepare a comprehensive traffic management plan in view of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project.

Pointing out the traffic problems being faced by people from the Kukatpally constituency, he said that the entire city would go haywire once work on the HMR starts.

While MIM MLA Maozam Khan complained of the spread of viral diseases in Bahadurpura constituency due to the contamination of the Musi river, Malakpet MLA Ahmed Balala said that work on the Musi Corridor announced by the CM was yet to begin. He also complained that the business of illicit liquor in his constituency has been growing.

Dr. Chandravathi of CPI asked the government to take measures to minimise the impact on public health due to the blasts in Singareni Collieries mines in her constituency in Khammam districts.

TDP MLA G Kamalakar Rao demanded that the state government release Rs. 60 crore meant for roads in Karimnagar. While TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao demanded that the Package No. 9 of Pranahita Chevella Project be converted into a stand-alone project, Seethavati of TDP pressed the government for the early completion of Sriramsagar Project canal development works.

While Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy assured the 19 members that the issues they had raised would be looked into, Home Minister P Sabitha Indira Reddy, Women's Welfare Minsiter Sunita Laxma Reddy and Social Welfare Minister Basvaraj Saraiah answered one question each. (INN)
