A fire broke out at Hyderabad's famed Nizam Club this morning.
Employees of the club were the first to notice smoke billowing out of a penthouse of one of the blocks. They immediately alerted the club authorities, the police as well as the fire department.
The fire brigade rushed to the spot in about ten minutes and doused the flames. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported since the club was empty when the fire broke out. However, the furniture in the affected wing was reportedly left gutted.
Officials have said that the full extent of the damage to property due to the fire is yet to be estimated.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but officials suspect that a short circuit could have led to the accident. The police have launched an investigation into the incident. The exact cause of the fire, they have said, will become clear only after the investigation.
The incident follows a similar one that occurred about a month ago - a fire that had
broken out in a house in Hyderguda's Avanthi Nagar area, in Hyderabad, had claimed the life of one and left four others injured. Further, two months ago, a
massive fire had gutted a tyre factory in Old City's Afzal Gunj area.
