Will Fight For Telangana: Nagam

Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that the fight for a separate Telangana state would continue irrespective of Srikrishna Committee Report's recommendations.
Hyderabad | 2nd January 2011
Telangana Telugu Desam Forum leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Saturday said that if the centre agreed to the bifurcation of the state, it would bode well for the Congress party in future. He added that if the creation of Telangana was delayed, then the party would be wiped off from the Telangana region.

Talking to media person at the TDLP, Janardhan Reddy added that even if the Srikrishna Report goes against the aspirations of the Telangana people, his party would continue its fight for a separate statehood until it was achieved.

Janardhan Reddy refused to react to the comments made by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao who was derisive of every other political party.

The TDP leader also added that the formation of Telangana was delayed by an year due to the agitations launched by KCR on the issue. He said that if the agitations were planned and had been coordinated with other political parties, Telangana would have been achieved much earlier.

Janardhan Reddy added that the Congress government had deployed paramilitary forces assuming that it could stifle the rightful voice of the people.

He also expressed fears that the verdict delivered by the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal over sharing of the waters from river Krishna would prove to be detrimental to the interests of Mahabubnagar district.

Janardhan Reddy said that Mahabubnagar district had become the most backward of all districts in the state when it should have been the foremost due to the deprivation of water. The Tribunal award would snatch away whatever little amount of water for irrigation was presently reaching the district.

Blaming the Congress party for the failure of getting the rightful share of Krishna waters, Janardhan Reddy said that the government had failed to argue the case properly before the Tribunal.

The TDP leader warned that his party would launch an agitation for the rightful share of the Krishna waters.
