Krishna Water Dispute Needs New Tribunal: Congress

The TPCC claimed that the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal's unjust verdict on Krishna water sharing between the two States was the TRS government's fault.
Hyderabad | 9th January 2017
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Sravan said that the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal's unjust verdict on the ratio of allocation of water between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was purely on the TRS government.

Reacting to the Supreme Court's dismissal of the Special Leave Petition filed by the State government against the tribunal's verdict, on Monday, the TPCC General Secretary said that the government did not show the same enthusiasm in getting the rightful share of waters to the State as it showed in constructing massive irrigation projects or acquiring lands for the same.

He demanded that the State government, instead of spending crores of rupees on engaging advocates, ask its MPs to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and convince him to appoint a new tribunal on Krishna waters for the young State. He noted that policies and needs of a region would change with changing geography and demography.
