Minister for Social Welfare Pithani Satyanarayana on Tuesday stated that the government will clear all tuition fee dues to private college managements by July 15.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, Satyanarayana said the government is committed to implement the
Supreme Court's orders on the reimbursement of the fee to colleges and clear dues, and that it would do so by July 15.
The minister appealed to college managements to withdraw their decision of closing the colleges since the government had agreed to pay their dues.
Earlier, college boards had threatened to close their colleges by February 24 if the government failed to clear their tuition fee dues.
"There is no cause to worry for students and parents on the fee issue. Students should concentrate on their studies," Satyanarayana stated.
He said the government had already issued a GO releasing Rs. 1,000 crore to colleges, and that the remaining dues would be cleared in a phased manner as directed by the Apex Court.
The Minister also called on former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to withdraw his hunger fast on fee reimbursement considering his deteriorating health condition. Satyanarayana said that the government was committed to implement former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's welfare schemes at any cost, 'in letter and spirit.'
