Disclosing that the income ceiling for SC and ST students for fee reimbursement has been raised from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh, the state government on Thursday clarified that all eligible students drawn from SCs, STs, BCs, Minorities and Economically Backward Classes will be issued the fee reimbursements and post matric scholarships as scheduled.
Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Thursday, Social Welfare Minister Pithani Satyanarayana made it clear that the managements of colleges would be punished if the fee was collected from these eligible students.
He also asked the students not to worry over the promised facilities, referring to media reports that had stated that such details were missing in the EAMCET notification.
The Minister was speaking after a review meeting on the subject. The meeting decided that post-Matric scholarships, reimbursement of fees and maintenance of mess charges will be paid to all eligible students belonging to SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities after verifying their caste and income ceiling certificates.
The Minister observed that there was no clarity in the submission of the certificates of caste and income by the students.
There were over 1.93 lakh eligible students, but they had not submitted their certificates as scheduled, he said.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy also instructions that all arrears to the colleges be paid by August ending, the Minister said. (INN)
