Expressing solidarity with the Telangana employees' strike that begins on 17 August, Telangana Students Joint Action Committee chairman P Ravi on Friday announced a series of agitations in the Telangana region.
Ravi was addressimg media persons after a Telangana Students JAC Executive Committee meeting, convened at a private hostel in the city.
As part of agitation, Ravi said, college students would organise a 'Go To College' program at the levels of taluk, mandal and districts, in all colleges in the Telangana region.
This event will be organized from August 5-11, and is aimed at creating awareness among students about extending support to the employees' strike.
On August 12, a cycle rally is being organized across the Telangana region, and a bike rally in the state capital.
On August 13, student leaders will picket examination centres where exams for the post of sub-inspectors are being conducted by the state government. This is to press for the demand of deletion of Clause 14F.
Ravi said Student JAC leaders will also picket centres at which degree college lecturers' exams will be held on August 14.
On August 16, district Collectorates will be picketed, and on August 17, students will boycott classes and stage rallies.
Students JAC president Rajaram Yadav warned of physical attacks on employees who fail to participate in the employees' strike, and sought cooperation of Seemandhra employees for the Telangana strike.
He said the resignation of elected representatives would provide moral support to the employees' strike and students' agitations.
He also warned of "serious consequences" if the elected representatives fail to resign from their posts again.
Yadav said similar agitations would be launched on the lines of the Gujjars' strike in Rajasthan.
Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram also participated in the meeting, as chief guests. (INN)
