In a surprise move, Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary today adjourned the Telangana Assembly abruptly to October 5 when Congress members stormed the podium while other parties like the Telugu Desam Party, the BJP and the Left Parties shouted slogans in unison seeking clarifications on the suicides by farmers, during the Question Hour.
The Speaker took up Question Hour and could not pacify the Opposition members from disrupting the proceedings. He had to wind up the session at the behest of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, which only added to the chagrin of Assembly Affairs Minister T Harish Rao and other ministers.
The Speaker took the decision to adjourn probably sensing the Opposition's mood of taking on the might of the ruling party despite its promise of addressing the problem of the suicides.
Earlier, immediately after the Speaker declared Question Hour, TRS MLA Konda Surekha made a few queries about the Anganwadi issues. The MLA asked the minister concerned to fill the vacant posts, and provide better infrastructure and facilities for the Anganwadis in the State.
However, the moment minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao was answering Konda Surekha's queries, the Opposition members started creating a ruckus and shouting slogans against the ruling party. Led by Deputy leader T Jeevan Reddy, Congress leaders stormed the Speaker's podium while other parties' leaders continued shouting. That quickly led to the adjournment.
