Former minister and senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy said that the state government should have extended legal aid to former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana on par with the 5 other ministers to whom the Supreme Court had issued notices in connection to the case pertaining to issuing of 26 controversial GOs.
Talking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Jeevan Reddy said that the decisions taken by the ministers concerned were not personal, but unanimously taken by the cabinet.
He stressed that Mopidevi must also be included in the list of ministers who were benefitted by the government's legal aid.
The other ministers to whom the government has decided to extend legal aid are Sabita Indra Reddy, Geeta Reddy, Dharmanna Parsad Rao, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana and Ponnala Lakshmaiah.
Jeevan Reddy said that the situation would not worsen if the government had filed an affidavit in the High Court in response to the case filed by the CBI against the ministers in the case.
He demanded that the government extend legal aid to Mopidevi Venkatramana, who is currently lodged in Chanchalguda Central Prison. (INN)
