Former Maoist leader Ganti Prasada Rao alias Prasadam suffered multiple bullet injuries after he was shot by some unknown persons in the town of Nellore on Thursday.
According to reports, Prasadam was attacked by three unknown assailants, near a government hospital. Besides being fired at, he was also stabbed with a knife.
He was immediately rushed to hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
Prasadam, a poet and convenor of the Martyrs' Committee Of Friends And Relatives, was released from jail in Odisha in 2011, along with some other Maoists, when Maoists had kidnapped the Malkangiri district collector. (INN)
