A criminal case has been registered today against Tadipatri Municipal Chairman and former TDP MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy after actress and BJP leader Madhavi Latha lodged a complaint with the Cyberabad police.
She alleged that Reddy and his associates made derogatory remarks and issued threats against her.
The dispute began when Reddy organised a New Year's Eve event on December 31, 2024, at J C Park in Tadipatri, intended for local women. Latha criticized the event in a video, advising women to avoid attending due to safety concerns. In response, Reddy made offensive comments about her during a television debate (he called her a prostitute), which led to widespread condemnation.
Despite Reddy issuing a public apology on January 6, 2025, acknowledging his inappropriate remarks, Latha proceeded to file complaints with the National Commission for Women, the National Human Rights Commission and the Movie Artistes Association.
Her recent complaint to the Cyberabad police seeks intervention to investigate the alleged defamation, harassment and threats, and urges authorities to ensure her safety and take appropriate action against Reddy and his associates.
