In a brutally shocking incident, a former Central Reserve Police Force constable went on a blood bath hacking 7 persons to death including his 2 children at Mettapeta village in Jalumuru mandal, Srikakulam district
on Wednesday.
According to police, M Shankara Rao decapitated his 2 children - Manasa (9) and Dinakar (7) - with a sickle, and then proceeded to perform puja at a local temple. The killer took the decapitated heads with him to the temple and used their blood in the rituals.
The crazed former cop then went to the village where the hacked 5 more persons to death.
According to police, Shankara Rao had been recently released from jail. He had undergone a 5-year jail term on charges of murdering his wife in 2005. He had killed her after suspecting her fidelity. The jail term had also cost him his job.
According to police, he had developed a grudge against all those who had testified against him in court in his wife's murder case. Police add that the 5 villagers he hacked were the ones who had testified against him in court.
These 5 victims have been identified as P Lakshman Rao, P Venkat, B Damayanthi, M Erraiah and M Padmavathi.
Shankara Rao surrendered before the shocked police after his killing spree came to an end.
The police recovered around 30-40 country-made bombs he had stashed away at his instance.
