Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today targeted the Director of Public Health (DH) Dr G Srinivasa Rao and condemned the comments made by him while addressing a pre-Christmas celebrations program held in Kothagudem on Wednesday.
Referring to the comments of Dr Rao that Jesus had protected the people of the country from the coronavirus, Bandi asked Rao to go to the country where Jesus was born.
Bandi also alleged that Rao was a corrupt officer, and that the BJP would soon expose his corruption. He also claimed that Rao had failed to provide even basic amenities in any of the government hospitals in the State.
Bandi asked Rao how he could support a particular religion while occupying a government position. He alleged that Rao was trying to incite communal hatred with his comments in order to secure an MLA ticket for the Kothagudem Assembly constituency from the BRS.
For the uninitiated, addressing a gathering in Kothagudem, Dr Srinivasa Rao had said that the coronavirus cases had come down in the country due to the blessings of Jesus, and that the country had developed due to Christianity. He also said that Christians were responsible for the development of the world.
The comments by Dr Rao had created a State-wide controversy. However, he later retracted them and alleged that a section of the media had distorted his comments.
