Schedule Announced For Four AP/Telangana MLC Seats
The ECI announced the schedule for the elections to fill two seats each in the Legislative Councils of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, falling vacant on March 29.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday announced the schedule for the elections to fill two seats each in the Legislative Councils of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, which will fall vacant on March 29.
According to the ECI, East-West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur teachers' constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, represented by K V V Satyanarayana Raju and K S Lakshmana Rao respectively, would fall vacant on March 29. Similarly, the term of Dr K Nageshwar and Dileep Kumar Kapilavai, representing the Mahaboobnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduates' constituencies respectively, would expire on March 29.
Therefore, the ECI has decided to conduct the biennial elections to fill the four vacancies.
The notification for the elections will be issued on 19th February, the last date for filing nominations will be 26th February, and the nominations will be scrutinised on 27th February. The last date for the withdrawal of candidature will be 2nd March, and polling will be held on 16th March from 8 am to 4 pm. The counting of votes will be done on 19th March.
"The Model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the districts which the above constituencies cover," the ECI said on Wednesday. (INN)
