The Election Commission of India has announced the scheduled for the election for the vacant MLC seat of Andhra Pradesh.
The seat fell vacant due to the resignation of Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy on May 21 this year. Therefore, the MLAs of Andhra Pradesh will elect a new MLC through bye-elections.
The notification for the bye-elections will be issued on August 4, while the last date for filing nominations will be August 11. The ECI will scrutinise the nominations on August 12, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be August 14.
The elections will be held on August 21 from 9am to 4pm, and the counting of votes will take place on the same day at 5pm. (INN)
