The second phase of EAMCET counselling for admission into engineering colleges will be held from 5 to 8 Sep. The allotment of seats will be done on 9 Sept.
It may be mentioned that as many as 73,128 students who qualified in EAMCET, in the engineering stream, skipped the first phase of counselling.
Against a total of 207,252 students who qualified in engineering, only 134,124 turned up for certificates verification in over 50 helpline centres across the state.
Thanks to the dismal turnout, several colleges in the state plunged into a crisis.
Less than 100 admissions were recorded in as many as 256 private engineering colleges. 5 colleges did not get even a single student, and about 44 colleges had less than 10 seats enrolled in each.
However, the statistics might change in the second phase of counselling scheduled to begin on 5 Sept.
Earlier, the counselling was planned for 3 Sep, but it had to be postponed following the PG-ECET and EDCET counselling scheduled on the same date, according to APSCHE Chairman Jaya Prakash Rao.
The ICET counselling for admission into the MBA and MCA courses, which started on 20 Aug, will continue till 27 Aug. The allotment of seats will be done on 29 Sep.
Similarly, counselling for Polytechnic will be held on 3 and 4 Sep, and the allotment of seats will be on 5 Sep.
During the first phase of counselling for the Polytechnic courses, nearly 8,000 seats remained vacant. (INN)
