» EAMCET 2011: Exam On May 22, Arrangements To Check Malpractices
EAMCET Exams on May 22
In an attempt to curb malpractice during the exams, bio-metric scanners and cell phone jammers are being installed at selected sensitive examination centres.
Around 3,28,000 students across the state are set to appear for their Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) in 600 centres on May 22nd. While the exam for the engineering aspirants will be held from 10am to 1pm, students seeking to pursue agriculture or medicine will write their exams from 2:30pm to 5:30pm.
EAMCET, the entrance test on whose results depend the admission of students into medical and engineering colleges across the state, was initially scheduled for May 8th, but was later postponed to May 22nd due to the Kadapa by-elections. The JNTU is conducting the EAMCET exams.
In an attempt to curb malpractice during the exams, bio-metric scanners and cell phone jammers are being installed at selected sensitive examination centres. Each scanner costs Rs. 20,000 while each jammer costs Rs. 40,000.
About 68,000 students will be checked by the bio-metric systems and the scanners.
In order to control malpractice at the centres without the bio-metric systems and jammers, rules have been passed that no student or invigilator will be allowed to carry a cell phone into the examination hall. It has also been announced that a student who is late by even a minute will be barred from writing the exam.
Police personnel, it has been reported, will be deployed to all examination centres to ensure that no untoward incidents occur.
The results of the EAMCET examinations will be released on July 2nd.
