The much-awaited and controversial DSC-2008 notification issue was resolved at last on Friday with the State government deciding to fill up teachers' posts.
Briefing media persons at a crowded press conference at the secretariat, Minister For Secondary Education D Manikya Vara Prasada Rao revealed that 26,700 posts out of 30,803 notified posts would be filled up.
The process will begin from October 30th. A GO to this effect would be issued, Rao stated.
The 1,149 school assistant posts will also be filled up. This process would also be completed in the same schedule along with the SGT posts, the minister stated. Once this process is completed, the transferred teachers will be relieved, a long-pending move.
Asked about the unrest among the candidates, the minister made it very clear that the government was strictly following the court's verdict and that their decision was in the limits of the court ruling.
Stating that this was a major decision, the selection list was under the ambit of the court's ruling, Rao stressed.
Asked about the delay, Rao said that in a democracy everyone had the right to move the court and clarified that selection list was being prepared after consulting experts like VP Rao. He added that the Attorney General was also consulted.
The minister added that the notification is a big task and there was no government interference in it. He emphasised that the whole operation was within the ambit of the court and hoped that the controversy would end.
Under the Right To Education Act, for every 30 students, 1 teacher was required and the government is following these norms.
The minister hoped that there would be no further complaints that there was a shortage of teachers.
