Addressing the qualified aspirants, who, on Sunday stormed the ministerial quarters at Adarshnagar in the city, demanding appointment letters on the basis of merit, the minister said that a final decision on the issue would be taken at the Cabinet meeting scheduled on Monday.
When the agitating aspirants demanded convening an all-party meeting on the issue, the minister assured them that Chief Minister K Rosaiah is considering solving the issue on an emergency basis.
The aspirants urged the minister to fill all vacancies notified in the DSC-2008 notification and issue appointment letters on the basis of merit in accordance with GO No 28.
"There is no need for convening an all-party meeting at this juncture. The Cabinet will come out with a firm decision on the issue by Monday evening," he said.
6 members from the District Selection Committee 2008 had discussions with the minister over the issue.
Earlier, when the agitators picketed the ministerial quarters, the police caned them and shifted the protestors to a nearby police station to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, Telugu Desam leaders, under the leadership of Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, went to Gandhi Hospital to enquire about the health of candidates who are on their hunger fast, which entered the 6th day on Sunday.
Criticizing the State government for failing to solve the issue, the TDP leaders extended their support to the agitating teacher aspirants.
Muddukrishnama Naidu alleged that the jumbo teacher recruitment drive has brought disrepute to the State government due to corruption and irregularities in it.
Instead of making tall claims, the Congress leaders should make concerted efforts, he stated.
