BJP leader and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya said that he was averse to being appointed as a Governor as he wished to continue working with the people.
Participating in a program on Sunday, Dattatraya said that he would not take up a gubernatorial post as he wanted to be in active politics.
He also clarified that he would indeed be contesting in the 2019 elections.
Refuting allegations that the Centre was not providing funds to the state government, he said that the BJP-led government at the centre had provided a lot of financial assistance for the ongoing irrigation projects in the state and was extending full support for their completion. He also pointed out that it had given Rs 3,900 crores for Mission Bhagiratha and Rs 677 crores for Mission Kakatiya, projects of the state government.
He also claimed that the credit for providing 24-hour power supply in Telangana also went to the Centre.
Evading a question on whether BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy would leave the party, Dattatreya asserted that the BJP was the only alternative to the ruling TRS in the state.
