The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday demanded that the state government dismiss Mohammad Majid Hussain from the post of the GHMC Mayor for his failure to convene the general body meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Addressing a press conference, BJP state president G Kishan Reddy alleged that the Mayor was delaying the GHMC council's meeting only to prevent the BJP's Langar Houz corporator C Uday Kumar from taking the oath although the court
declared him elected due to the disqualification of the MIM's Ravi Yadav.
Kishan Reddy said that the GHMC needs to discuss and address several civic problems being faced by the people.
"However, instead of acting responsibly as the Mayor, Majid Hussain is behaving like a politician by not convening the council's meeting for the last eight months, which is against the provisions of the GHMC Act," he complained.
Regarding Telangana, the BJP leader said that the party has finalised the names of its representatives. He said that besides him, former MLA Dr. K Hari Babu would participate in the meeting and vote in favour of the formation of a Telangana state.
Suspecting the Centre's commitment over Telangana, he reiterated that it is only the BJP that can give Telangana when it returns to power at the Centre.
Speaking about the protests in Delhiprotest, the BJP leader said that the people's anger has proved that the common man has lost faith in the Congress-led UPA government. He said that Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was a mute spectator while thousands of protestors were thronging the streets of national capital; and also slammed Manmohan Singh for his failure to address the problems being faced by people.
Former MP C Chenga Reddy was also present during the press conference. (INN)
