YSR Congress Party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today criticized Governor E S L Narasimhan for administering the oath of office as cabinet ministers, to defectors from the party in Andhra Pradesh.
The Governor administered oath of secrecy and office today to 11 members inducted into the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet, including four YSR Congress Party MLAs who had crossed over to the ruling party.
"Today is a black day in Andhra Pradesh's political history," Reddy said.
He added that it was unconstitutional to induct into the cabinet those who had left their parent party and joined the ruling party.
Reddy also alleged that the Chief Minister had violated rules with the support of Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao.
YSR Congress Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu termed the induction of the four defector-MLAs into the AP cabinet as the murder of democracy. He said that Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who had joined the TRS after getting elected on a TDP ticket and was then made a cabinet minister in Telangana, had set the precedent for today's development.
