Congress deputy floor leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly T Jeevan Reddy on Monday announced that his Party would approach the Election Commission of India, the Governor and also the Supreme Court against the defections of its legislators to the TRS.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly's media point, Jeevan Reddy accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of trying to eliminate the Congress in Telangana.
He claimed that AICC President Sonia Gandhi had granted statehood to Telangana despite knowing well that the Congress would be wiped out of the Seemandhra region. Instead of being thankful to Sonia Gandhi, KCR was now damaging her own party.
He said that KCR's actions of encouraging defections were unprecedented in the country.
Reddy said that the Congress would seek the disqualification of the Chief Minister who was acting against the spirit of democracy.
Instead of focusing on preventing farmers from committing suicide, KCR was aiming entirely at causing damage to the Congress, Reddy alleged. He said that the Chief Minister paid no attention to the farmers' suicides even in his own Gajwel constituency.
Also, the pension scheme benefit was extended only to a few persons after its launch on November 8, and instead of to 36 lakh farmers, the crop loan waiver was extended to only 19 lakh farmers, and only 25% of the amount had been paid.
Congress MLAs including Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, Dr J Geetha Reddy and D K Aruna were also present. (INN)
