Labour Minister Danam Nagender on Wednesday announced that he would participate in the official celebrations of Andhra Pradesh Formation Day.
Talking to reporters, Danam, who represents Khairatabad constituency in the Assembly, ridiculed the boycott call given by pro-Telangana activists.
Accusing Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao of having dual standards, he asked as to why KCR did not think of Telangana when he himself had participated in the State Formation Day celebrations in the past as a minister.
He said that immature reactions by pro-Telangana groups were complicating the Telangana issue and making it difficult for the Centre to take an early decision on the same.
Appealing to ministers from the region to participate in the official celebrations, Danam claimed that Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi was making efforts to resolve the issue at the earliest. He said that the Telangana ministers ought to have a clear stand on the matter and must avoid making contradictory statements.
Meanwhile, Danam declined to comment on reports of a possible change in leadership in the state government. (INN)
