Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy on Saturday promised that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would, on a war footing, repair roads left badly damaged by the heavy rains that lashed the city recently.
She was speaking on an inspection visit to the West Zone of the Corporation, where heavy rains had damaged the roads to such an extent that it was almost impossible to traverse on them. Karthika Reddy also said that apart from repairing the roads, the GHMC has already began widening major nalas to prevent a recurrence of such devastation.
The Mayor told the residents of Hafeezpet, Janapriya Nagar, Prajay City, Allwyn Colony, Gautam Nagar, Reddy Colony and other areas, that all help possible would be extended to them.
The battered roads from Madhapur to Miyapur have led to traffic crawling on most of the arteries leading towards Hi-Tech City for hours together each day, making commuting on that road a nightmare.
The road from Serrilingampally to Hafeezpet is destroyed to such an extent that passage on it is almost impossible.
