(Ex-) senior Congress leader and former minister D K Aruna, who shocked the party high command by joining BJP in the middle of the night on Tuesday, opened up about that today.
She said that she had quit the Congress as she had not only felt neglected but also insulted by the high command leaders.
She claimed that the party high command did not take action on the complaints she had lodged against several State leaders of the party.
The former Gadwal MLA also said that the Congress had lost a great opportunity to defeat the TRS in the State in last year's Assembly elections, and that it (the Congress) had been weakened at the State and the national levels and did not have even a remote chance to come into power after the upcoming elections.
She said that the TRS could only be defeated by a national party like the BJP.
She also said that those who were joining the TRS were doing it only for money and to protect their vested interests.
The BJP is likely to field D K Aruna for the Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seat.
BJP State president Dr K Laxman said that Aruna had joined his party as she didn't like the policies of the Congress, and claimed that several more senior leaders of the Congress would join his party in the next couple of days.
He said that the induction of Aruna would strengthen the BJP in the State, and that the party would take a final decision on the issue of fielding her for the Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seat shortly.
