Following a complete restoration of normalcy, the authorities of Vizianagaram lifted the curfew from the violence-hit town on Saturday.
The decision to completely lift the curfew was taken after no incident of violence was reported in the town in the last 10 days. However, the authorities said that the Section 144 would remain imposed as a precautionary measure.
It may be mentioned that curfew was imposed in the Vizianagaram town on October 5, following violent protests against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana
Besides resorting to arson and looting at a few places, the protestors targeted the properties of PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana.
With improvement in the situation, the day curfew was lifted for a brief period on October 14.
