Even as the stampede deaths at the Rajahmundry pushkar ghat on Tuesday are still fresh in the people's memory, a crocodile caused a sensation at a pushkar ghat in the Karimnagar district on Thursday.
Scores of pilgrims who were about to enter the waters at the Balamma pushkar ghat in Ibrahimpatnam in the district ran helter-skelter in panic upon seeing the approaching reptile.
Upon receipt of the information, the district officials, accompanied by forest department staff, rushed to the spot and caught the crocodile and kept it aside, leading to the pilgrims heaving a sigh of relief.
